What is the Patient Participation Group
This is a group which is comprised of the Surgery employees (usually the GP, nurse and the Practice or Assistant Practice Manager) and you, the patients. The group will look into the provision of the services that are being provided by the Surgery and will evaluate these, whilst making any suggestions or recommendations to the existing services on offer. There will be a voting system put in place where patients will vote with the practice staff, which areas are of most importance to have changed in the surgery. We will then try and implement these changes and report each detail back to the patients. These minutes and reports will also be published on the website.
Who can join this group?
Any patient who is interested in voicing their opinion on the level and quality of our services being provided is welcome to join, however please be aware that places can be limited, depending on the number of current members. If you are interested at all in becoming a member of this group, please contact the practice manager by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or put a request in writing to the surgery. Or you can even inform the GP during your consultation that you would be interested in coming aboard the group.
What if I cannot come to the meetings?
If you cannot attend the meetings but would still like to contribute some ideas that will be topics of discussion, please submit these queries to the practice manager by email or put this in writing to the Practice address. We will take your comments on board and you will be sent copies of any meeting minutes thereafter.
Times and location of meetings
We will be holding the meetings on practice premises and the timings will be either late afternoon after surgery or early evenings. We will be posting the times of any meetings on the website so everyone is made aware.
If you do wish to obtain more information about patient participation groups in general, please go to the National Association for Patient Participation website on www.napp.org.uk .
We have not had a meeting with our PPG group regularly in 2016 however in 2017 we do hope to change this and start up regular meetings. We will be contacting the patients about this in due course.
